Ex raid pass being used early?

I tried to raid at the gym today that I have an ex pass for, and the pass it showed to be used was the black ex raid one for Oct. 1st.

I didn't participate in the raid because I wasn't sure if it was going to "use up" my ex raid pass or a glitch that would screw me out of the ex raid. If anyone has had this happen to them or has any information about it please let me know!
