Hoping for a normal week - should we introduce opt-outs from events?

I've enjoyed the Kanto event, but having played since the start of PoGo there wasn't that much to be gained for me.

I live in Sweden and a week ago I travelled to Brazil for vacation. It has been kinda sad to not have seen a single Gen2 or Gen3 pokémon for my entire visit. I had hoped to maybe catch a Heracross and a Lunatone, but haven't even seen one on "nearby".

I take it the Kanto event will end today, so here's to hoping I'll find at least some of each to trade with friends in the few days I have left!

I shouldnt complain since these events do bring a lot of good things to the game as well, but sometimes I wish there was an opt-out or similar..!
