Does anyone that uses a Galaxy Note9 have difficulty throwing curveballs?

I just got a new phone today and my excitement turned to disappointment as soon as I tried playing Pokemon Go.

Almost every time I try a curve ball my ball just fings right off to the bottom right of my screen. Has anyone experienced this? Is it a defect with the phone or just me not being used to new screen (though I had 0 issues when I went from my iPad to my phone and vice versa)
