17 years ago, I received Pokemon Crystal for my birthday. I absolutely loved it, and it has remained one of my favorite games of all time. I still remember my little hands shaking as Suicune approached me in the Tower, challenging me to earn it's respect and companionship. I was pretty ill-equipped for the confrontation, with only a couple great balls and few mons that could stack up. It took some considerable time and re-loading, but I managed to finally catch this illusive creature. Few moments in any other game I have played have even come close to being as epic as it was to my youngster mind. Finding MewTwo in the cave was just finishing the legendary checklist of Kanto to me. Catching Suicune was a seminal moment, an achievement (considering how early it happens in the game), dramatically ratcheted up throughout the campaign with it's constant presence, added in with that mind-blowing chiptune of awesomeness. I still load up old copies of Crystal and HeartGold to see it in it's original glory from time to time.

Anyways, I finally got a phone and data plan that could run Pokemon Go at the end of this past July. Although I've got gripes with the game, much like everyone else, I've also had some amazing moments. PoGo has managed to recapture some of the original wonder of Pokemon for me, and given a socially anxious guy like me a reason to get out more and a nice icebreaker at raids and such. I guess I've been super lucky to start at a time of so many events, I've gotten almost every pokemon I was really excited to find very quickly, of those currently available. And now, exact to the day, I've been reunited with my old pal Suicune. As much as I would have liked to face her down in battle like I did before, catching it at one of local parks on the pond/lake is good enough I suppose. I know she doesn't get a whole lot of love in terms of being the best in terms of battle potential around here, but I'm going spend every bit of rare candies I get in order to have the strongest Suicune I can, just like I did years ago.

And finally, shoutout to everyone around here. Been lurking but never posted for a month or so, but got a lot of good info from the posts on here. Appreciate the help from fellow trainers. I wish you all luck in finding your favs and old friends again as well!
